My January Favorites

February 6, 2019

Is it just me or did the month of January seem to go on forever?! We have finally made it out and I have some awesome products to share. I crushed on these products all month and I plan to keep using them (well, until something better comes out, of course).

Up first we have my new go-to everyday foundation. I was looking for something quick, buildable and most importantly.. inexpensive. I prefer not to use my luxury products everyday until I am a millionaire, and even then I probably still will go the cheap route. The Maybelline Super Stay Stick Foundation covered all of my needs. I have tried the other Super Stay products, but this by far is my favorite. I was fortunate to find a shade that matched me perfectly and I am able to build it to the perfect level of coverage. My only qualm is the amount of product that you get. It ain’t much. Imagine the topmost portion of your thumb, that’s about all you get. I imagine one tube should last me about three weeks if used daily. Thankfully it’s only $11.99 per tube, and stores like Ulta and Walgreens almost always have a deal going for Maybelline makeup. I plan to stock up whenever I catch a great sale so I won’t run out.

Next I have an amazing face moisturizer that I recently fell back in love with. The Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base was my favorite primer a few years back. This winter I found myself needing a primer that was moisturizing, especially under my eyes. The Face Base provides me with the moisture I need while keeping my makeup in place all day. It’s a win win situation.  The Face Base has a whipped like texture that instantly moisturizes and leaves concealer in it’s place all day with minimal moving or cracking. The product goes for $60 a jar at BobbiBrown.Com but don’t panic.. a little does go a very very long way.

Everyone starts their weight loss journey in January, myself included. I’m proud to say that I’ve lost 20lbs so far and it’s greatly because of my Smartrope. This exercise gadget makes exercise fun and accessible. I don’t need any heavy duty equipment to get a quick cardio session in. Instead I just whip out my Smartrope wherever I am and get to jumping. My favorite part about this product is the amazing app that comes with it. Did you know there is a whole community of people who jump rope for sport?! Yea, I didn’t either. The app connects people who are all using the Smartrope and allows them to compare progress, start challenges, and share their health accomplishments. My favorite color is gold so I was thrilled to see a Smartrope with gold handles. They have tons of other color options too! Head over to TangramFactory.Com to grab yours today.

Queen Latifah and Covergirl.. name a better duo! I am kicking myself for just now trying The Covergirl Queen Collection. I stumbled upon the line while grocery shopping. I literally NEVER go to the makeup section of my grocery store, but it was like Queen Latifah herself was calling me over to check out the products. Everything was marked down significantly. I nabbed two bronzers, a pressed powder and a contour shade for only $9 total! The powders are amazing. Before now I was not able to find a bronzer that actually looked right on my skin tone so I didn’t even bother applying it. Now I am obsessed. It saddens me that this collection may not be available for long. I searched everywhere on the internet and I cannot find the products for sale anywhere. I assume the markdowns were so drastic because the line is being discontinued (insert ugly cry face). I will just have to enjoy what I have until I run out. Maybe I should write a letter to Queen Latifah expressing how much we need her makeup in our lives. Yeah, I think I’ll do that..

You know what grinds my gears? TANGLED HAIR. As a curly girl I find my hair tangles so easily. It was important to me to find a brush that could get through my tangles with ease without breaking my fragile strands. I came cross the Tangle Teaser For Thick And Curly Hair during one my many shopping trips on sephora.Com. The reviews were great so I decided to give it a try. I have the regular Tangle Teaser and it was okay.. but it didn’t fully detangle my hair like I would’ve hoped. I had high expectations for this new Tangle Teaser and it definitely exceeded them all. I used the Tangle Teaser for Thick And Curly Hair on my freshly washed and conditioned hair and then let my hair air dry with minimal holding product. My curls came out super defined. Like SUPER defined. I have never seen my curls so tightly coiled. On top of that, I can run my fingers through my hair without any fear of losing one. This brush is amazing. The only thing that could make it better would be to add a handle. The palm fit of it can be awkward, but its a minor issue that is quickly overshadowed by it’s many benefits.

January was a good product month for me! I’m happy to have stumbled across some real winners. I’m excited to see what February brings. What products have you been crushing on lately? Let me know in the comments! Until next time boo's!
